Etiske verdier og eksistensiell utforskning: Hvordan kan skolens religions- og livssynsundervisning arbeide med bærekraftig utvikling som tverrfaglig tema?

Sammendrag

I norsk skole er bærekraftig utvikling ett av tre tverrfaglige tema i den nye læreplanen som ble tatt i bruk fra 2020 og som presenterer dette som en viktig samfunnsutfordring. Denne artikkelen drøfter på et overordnet plan hvordan skolens religions- og livssynsundervisning kan og bør forholde seg til bærekraft som tema, og argumenterer for at fagplanenes kjerneelementer etisk refleksjon og utforskning av eksistensielle spørsmål og svar bør spille en sentral rolle her. Artikkelen utdyper hva det innebærer å arbeide med etiske og eksistensielle perspektiver på bærekraft og trekker veksler på nyere tekster fra pedagogisk filosofi som tar opp spørsmål om antropocen og danning. Dette gir grunnlag for å hevde at religions- og livssynsundervisningen er sentral for realisering av skolens danningsoppdrag.

Ethical values and existential inquiry: How can religious- and worldview education approach sustainable development as a cross-curricular theme?

In Norway, sustainable development is one of three interdisciplinary topics in the new curriculum from 2020. This means that sustainability is presented as a key societal challenge and an important issue to address in and across subjects. The present article discusses how sustainability can and should be addressed in education, with particular focus on religious education. It argues, based on the curriculum formulations, that key issues should be ethical reflection and existential questions and develops what this means, drawing on educational philosophy. The relationship between the Anthropocene and Bildung are highly relevant issues in religious education, and this subject has a key role in realising the aims of education.
