English abstract
In the School Community's Tone: On Music and the Monthly Assembly at Waldorf Schools
On the basis of the monthly assembly in the Waldorf School, this article examines the Steiner educational perspectives on music and music educational practice. I relate core ideas from Rudolf Steiner’s lectures on education to relevant music educational and anthropological research literature. By addressing questions of what rituals may entail in school and which role music plays in the monthly assembly as a ritual, I discuss possible interpretations of the monthly assembly and music’s crucial role for community building in the Waldorf School.
